Reiki, pronounced ray-key, is the Japanese word for spiritually-guided life force energy. This ancient hands-on healing modality helps to bring your own energy system into balance, allowing your body's natural healing abilities to work properly. The healing can be physical, emotional, mental; whatever you need at the time, is what you will receive.
Reiki is both gentle and powerful, and addresses both chronic and acute conditions. The practitioner lays their hands on, or a few inches above, the body in a series of hand positions which are coordinated with chakras, or energy points of the body. Focusing with positive intent, the practitioner facilitates the Reiki energy to clear away blocks in these energy fields.
Scientific research is proving that "energy therapy" can help to decrease anxiety and depression, diminish pain, strengthen the immune system, accelerate healing, and give an overall feeling of peace and well being. My own experience receiving Reiki was so profoundly positive, that I trained to not only become a practitioner, but received my Master/Teacher certificate. This allows me to share the universal life force energy with individuals for healing sessions, as well as teaching and certifying others to become Reiki healers.
A Reiki session lasts about an hour. You remain fully clothed, and on a table in a peaceful room for your relaxation. There is no dogma in Reiki, and the recipient does not need any particular spiritual belief system. Simply be open to receiving energy, love and healing.
